Can we fly or drive?
Champs’ Camp is located approximately two miles from Exit 15 on I-35 West. That places us 35 minutes from downtown Ft. Worth and one hour from downtown Dallas via highway TX 67.

Your camper may also fly into either DFW (Dallas/Ft. Worth International) or Love Field in Dallas. We will be glad to provide shuttle service to and from either airport at no additional cost. We will need the camper’s flight itinerary and will have a member of the staff meet them at their baggage claim area.

Where is Champs’ Camp?
Champs’ Camp home base is located at Beaumont Ranch (www.beaumontranch.com). Beaumont Ranch is an upscale but relaxed resort ranch located 35 miles south of downtown Ft. Worth, TX. Beaumont Ranch offers lodging, on-site meal preparation, and a conference room for instruction. The sporting clays training area is operated by Rock Creek Clays and is located on the ranch property.

What time do I need to drop off and pick up my camper?
Once you have completed registration a camp itinerary will be e-mailed to you. Generally we ask that campers arrive no later than 5 p.m. on the first day. We will serve dinner at 6 p.m. and then go directly into our orientation session.

Our last day features our own Champs’ Camp mini-tournament which ends at noon. Lunch will be served and followed by a closing session. Camp will officially end at 2 p.m. on the final day.

Where do the campers stay?
Campers are housed bunkhouse style in two of Beaumont Ranch’s guest rooms. Bedding is provided. Each room has a private bath. Campers are welcome to bring a favorite pillow if they wish.

What about meals?
Champs’ Camp meals are prepared in Beaumont Ranch’s kitchen and served buffet style. The menu features familiar foods and is selected to provide ample energy for the demanding schedule. Snacks and cold water are provided on the sporting clays courses during training and also in the conference room during classroom sessions.

What do campers do during “free time?”
There is little “free” time during Champs’ Camp. We take seriously our mission of training young shooters in both competitive shooting techniques and the mental game necessary for high level competition that we stay engaged most of the day. A well-stocked lake is available for camper’s use during the few breaks in our busy schedule.

How much will the camper’s shoot?
Campers will typically shoot between 1000 and 1500 rounds of ammunition during a session depending on their experience prior to arrival. Because of the high volume of shooting we strongly recommend the use of light loads to reduce recoil and fatigue. We offer light recoiling loads by Fiocchi. Prices range from $56 to $63 per flat (250 rounds) plus Texas state sales tax. Reloads are not permitted.

May parents attend Champs’ Camp sessions?
Parents are welcome to attend any part of the Champs’ Camp program. We can always use one parent each session as a “bunkhouse bully” to help supervise the campers overnight. Staff remains on the grounds 24 hours a day and on call if any emergency arises.

Parents may also stay in a private guest room at Beaumont Ranch and come and go as they please. There is a lot to see and do in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex.

What kind of shotgun should a novice or beginner purchase for serious competition?
If the camper is a beginner or novice we encourage parents to call before purchasing a shotgun. We have strong opinions on appropriate shotguns for young shooters based on our experience and also the success of our camp graduates. Call 325-998-6317 or 817-709-8474.

How much pocket money will campers need?
We generally do not leave Beaumont Ranch during a Champs’ Camp session. Campers are provided meals and snacks. We do offer Champs’ Camp caps and other gear for sale but that may be paid for at the end of camp when you pick up your camper.

What do the camper's need to bring?
Summer weather in northeast Texas typically has mornings in the mid-to high 60’s with high temperatures in the mid-90 range. Rain showers are possible. Remaining hydrated is essential and cold water will be constantly available.

We will be spending 6 hours or more a day outside and will not cancel shooting due to wind or rain. Outdoor activities will be suspended in all cases of lightning or potentially dangerous thunderstorm activity in the area.

The following items are recommended for Champs’ Camp. Recommendations are to help keep you safe and comfortable.

Shoes (sandals or open toed shoes not recommended due to grass burrs and insects)
Socks
Pants or Shorts
Shirts (you will be provided 2 camp shirts and they will be laundered daily)
Raincoat/pants
Underwear
Personal toiletries
Cap or hat (Champs’ Camp hats will be available for purchase at Camp)
Eye protection
Ear protection
Sunscreen
Shotgun in lockable hard case
Shooting vest, shell pouch, or shell apron
Shotgun choke

We will provide bedding including pillow and towel. If you have a personal pillow, towel, or sleeping bag that you prefer then please fee free to bring them.

We will provide sunscreen and insect repellent for all campers.

We will also provide cleaning materials and tools for your shotgun. We will conduct a session on how to “detail” (clean) your shotgun for competition.

Ammunition- you will need up to 5 flats of ammunition (1250 rounds). If you bring your own ammunition we strongly recommend a 12 gauge, 2 ¾ or 3 dram equivalent (up to 1200 fps) 7/8 or 1 oz load. We will demonstrate the effectiveness of this load and the positive effects of lower recoil when practicing.
You may purchase tournament quality Fiocchi ammunition from Champs’ Camp at $68 per flat including sales taxes.
